Liam's fondest and worst memories this generation

Well there have been some great game's this generation and some really bad ones, I suppose you could say it has been the best generation for great games. Along the 3 platform's: Wii, Ps3 and Xbox 360 i have had an amazing time whether it be on my own or playing with other's through Live or PSN. When we discussed this we said it would be a top 5 scenario and a worst 5 but i found that it would be too difficult for that so here goes my top 10 and worst 5, explaining why and how!

Top 10

10 - Dead Rising

One of the sole reason's I got the Xbox 360. At the time i remember watching on Playtime which was an old show on bravo and it blew my mind how you could have so many zombies on screen at one time and the fact it was set in a mall just like Dawn of the Dead (favourite film) just made me weak at the knees. Dead Rising had great characters and bosses who were psychotic and fit in with the story of everyone going nuts in an apocalypse scenario. Another thing which blew my mind at the time was the amount of weapons that were at my disposal. When going from a PlayStation 2 and playing games such as Shadow of Colossus and God of War the leap was extraordinary.

9 - Alone in the Dark

Now i know what your thinking....this is his number 9?!  But yes it is! Alone in the Dark was a good game that was vastly under rated by many due to bugs at the time of launch. Being a big fan of the series i don't think they could have done a better job in doing a reboot than what they did here! The game featured dynamic lighting, great graphics and an inventory system that hadn't been tried at the time and still hasn't to this day. Alone in the Dark sold 1.2 million copies, so here's hoping for a sequel on next gen *fingers crossed*.

8 - Batman Arkham City

I could have given number 7 slot to either Batman game's as they were both truly awesome, however Arkham City just pips it. Batman Arkham City grew on the first game and took it that one step further. There are tonnes of enemies all with great voice over's and an impecable story line that could trump even the great Nolan movies. Batman: AC added open world game play to something where you thought it couldn't get any better. New combo's and gadget's were added aswell as playable character's such as Catwoman and Robin. Heck Batman: Arkham City was that good that i went and bought that collector's edition...and everyone know's what a tight git i am!

7 - Assassins Creed Revelation's

The Assassin's Creed series is one of my favourite's of all time. I love how each game leave's me wanting more through cliff hangers and i'm yearning for the 4th on next gen. Each game has been great but none immersed me aswell as Revelation's. Revelation's brought together the story of Ezio and Altair and explained how both were linked and how their memory's can save all of human kind. One more reason i loved this game so much is that they weren't afraid to kill off character's which i think create's a more powerful ending and also make's you want to play as that character over and over. Another favourite from this game is the hookblade which is used to either kill enemies or zip line about that place, hopefully it will make a return in Assassins Creed 4.

6 - Gears of War 3

Gears of the War 3 is one of the best shooter's of all time and feature's so high up on the list due its great story mode and amazing 'Horde Mode'. GOW 3 finished off an amazing trilogy and had some epic moment's and even for the third title in the series, still managed to bring shock value to the table.

5 - Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 is the sequel to one of my favourite games of all time - Resident Evil 4. It expanded on all the great ideas of 4 adding co-op mode and bring back a fan favourite in Chris Redfield. It may have had its querks yet it still managed  to deliver an awesome game to the survival horror genre.

4 - Metal Gear Solid 4: Gun's of the Patriot's

Metal Gear Solid 4 would really be a joint number one if i had my way. MGS 4 is 5 years old now and still in my opinion is one of the best looking games. In this game Konami went all out bringing super clever AI to the enemy and pitted Snake in middle of a war between two opposing sides. People may have complained that this was one long cut scene of a game but to have great story telling that is what you need and this is what Kojima does so well. MGS 4 is one of the best exclusives available and should be played by more people than just PS3 users.

3 - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is a breathe taking journey and i could have picked any game of the trilogy as they are all phenomenal. Uncharted 2 took all the ideas of the first game and super sized them by a thousand bringing an adventure story that would challenge the likes of Indiana Jones. Uncharted is a series made by Naughty Dog who are famous for doing such games as Crash Bandicoot, Jack and Daxter and most Recently The Last of Us - all of which are master pieces to their own generations. One thing that is scary...is seeing what Naughty Dog can do with a bit of kit like the PS4, I'm frothing at the mouth just thinking about it!

2 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series seem to the be the benchmark of many games. They take many genre's and stick them all into one huge world. Oblivion blew my mind when i first had it on the 360 and when Skyrim came along I was in awe. The amount of different things you could do within the world is astonishing and to this day i am still playing and finding new things! One thing for sure, The Elder Scrolls: Skryim has to be the best money to game time ratio of all time as i'm sure that billions of hours have been lost worldwide.

1 - The Last of Us

Just when you thought this generation was over, Naughty Dog go out and create a world that you thought wouldn't be possible with this type of hardware. The Last of Us is possibly my favourite game of all time let alone this generation and showed a sign of what the future may hold for gaming. Everything in TLOU from the script which wouldn't look out of place in Hollywood to online were near perfect. I must say i am a huge fan of the zombie genre but even taking these out of the equation would still come up with a master piece. Words can't do justice to how fantastic this game is and everyone should be able to play it at one point or another even if it means paying £100 for a new PlayStation.

Worst 5

Guess I've saved the worst for last. This section will define the shit sandwich's of games which is what I would rather eat than play these again. With the amount of budgets for games that get flung around these days you would think it would be rather hard to make a bad game.

5 - Facebreaker

Right where do i start on this piece of poo! Facebreaker is one of the more difficult games this generation. This game was made by EA and resembles the old Ready 2 Rumble games. I picked this up later down the line for a fiver from Currys and that proved too much. I gave the game half an hour but after having my ass handed to me continuously in the first round, I decided to call it a day before I threw the Xbox out the window!

4 - CSI: Hard Evidence

CSI: Hard Evidence was purchased back when i was an achievement whore. I tried to use a guide but got no where as the game was physcially broken! This game featured awful graphics and doesn't resemble the show in any way other than the user being a victim for buying it...

3 - The Bourne Conspiracy

Sadly i purchased this twice (360 & PS3) on the basis that I loved the movies. The Bourne Conspiracy isn't even that bad a game it's just the fact i can not the life off me after about 20 attempts beat the guy on the plane!

2 - Terminator Salvation

Movie games are never really any good and this is possibly one of the worst. In an ideal world you take John Connor and you pit him and the Resistance against actual Terminators! Sadly all you fight for four hours (completion time) is the tin can above. Only up side is this is the easiest 1000G allthough the most bor......ing, sorry i dozed off just thinking about it.

1 - Jumper: Griffin's Story
Here is another movie tie in which is my most hated game this generation. Jumper is based on a bad film which of course is going to equal a bad game. This is another game i got to rack up the achievement point's and I did quiet while until Samual L. Jackson shows up to bitch slap me! He is one of the hardest bosses of all time however this doesn't account for repetitive game play in which you just mash a,b,x or y. Jumper features horribly bad graphics and the worst sound effects with the character's repeating the same things every 5 seconds over and over and over, uuugh!
