Ubisoft making a JRPG - Child of Light

At the GDC today, Far Cry 3 developer Patrick Plourde showed early footage of Child of Light which is a new project he's working on at Ubisoft Montreal. At a panel titled 'Small Projects in AAA Studios' Plourde revealed that Child of Light is a JRPG digital title that was inspired by Square classics. Child of Light is a story featuring a young girl "who physically and mentally grows up", but that is all we know as details are planned further down the line for the games full announcement.

Child of Light is being made using the same game engine as Rayman Legends - Ubi-Art Framework. Plourde showed off many pieces of concept art and explained that the art can be laid over environments within the game in order for players to interact. Child of Light is inspired by artists such as Hayao Miyazaki and Yoshitaka Amano and is set for a winter 2013 release date. Details are still sketchy but some co op was hinted at aswell as both Console and PC releases. Catch the breathetaking artwork below.
