Microsoft abandons used games policy

It what is old news now (we're playing catch up  Microsoft has ditched its used games policy after a fierce backlash from consumers. The once-a-day internet connection requirement will also be dropped in favour of a one-time connection when initially setting up the console.

Don Mattrick, president of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft wrote on a blog titled feedback matters "Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback," Basically Xbox One owners will be able to do what the PlayStation 4 has promised from the start which is trade, sell and lend games allthough to play the Xbox One you will still need to go online at least once.

The reversal of a decision from Microsoft surely puts them back in a level playing field with Sony but is the damage done already considering Sony's massive victory at E3...only time will tell!

Newspaper confirms Ps4 launch date

It is looking likely Sony will go head-to-head with Microsoft in November, if a UK newspaper advertisement is to be believed. The Sun newspaper has a PS4 advert that highlights the price of the new console as well as reminding everyone you can trade your used games easily and don’t need the Internet to use it. But it also lists a launch date of November 21. In what surely can't be faked in a newspaper that sells in the thousands then this can be good marketing for Sony and even if a release date isn't official then that gives Sony room to maneuver when Microsoft announce their's and maybe steal some thunder aswell as sales.

Duke Nukem creators sue Gear Box

Gearbox are causing a ruckus again and this time its not 'ALIENS' no, its their other travesty of a game - Duke Nukem Forever. Apogee software, creator and former developer of the game are suing over claims that Gearbox withheld profits from the sales. Apogee aka 3D Realms states that Gearbox failed to make payments of $2 million dollars in royalties and that Gearbox blocked Apogee from auditing Duke Nukem's sales results.

A Gear Box representative had this to say to Polygon:
"Ironically, Scott Miller himself provided the best response when he wrote: '..filed lawsuits are entirely one-sided statements, based on knee-deep BS and with more spin than a top,'" a Gearbox official wrote in a statement provided to Polygon. "The reality is that Apogee / 3D Realms (3DR) received the full benefit of its bargain. Gearbox, in its fulfillment of its commitments, enriched 3DR, saved 3DR from its debts and rescued 3DR from its litigation surrounding its failed dozen-plus year attempt to ship Duke Nukem Forever.
"Everyone wished that 3DR's game was better received by the market for the benefit of gamers and profit to its creators. While 3DR might not wish the reality that the results make clear, 3DR turned out to be the only beneficiary of the deal. Gearbox Software, meanwhile, experienced damage to its credibility and loss of its money.
"It's unfortunate that 3DR did not abide by the the objective audit rules outlined in the agreement and even more unfortunate that it chose to blame its failures on Gearbox. Since 3DR seems unable to accept reality and has chosen to become hostile, Gearbox is forced to bring its actual claims of breach of contract against 3DR and is confident Gearbox will prevail.
"Perhaps the lesson learned here is to never enter a gaming business deal with a person who has had more lawsuits than shipped games."

PlayStation 4 Games Will Cost $59.99

In what is no surprise Sony has revealed the price of Ps4 games via Shacknews confirming that retail games will be sold at $59.99 which equates to £40.00 for the UK Market. Sony had this to say "Correct, we have announced the pricing for our first party line up of PS4 launch and launch window games. All four titles, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Knack, and inFamous Second Son are all $59.99."

Earlier this week Microsoft confirmed their prices which were also equal to $59.99, however retailers such as GAME and Amazon may go with something all together different as nothing has been confirmed.
