Batman Arkham Origins Revealed

Warner Brothers Interactive have officially announced that a new game in the massively popular Batman Arkham series is in development. Up until now there has only been rumours about a new game in the gritty Batman games but that rumour has now become a fact. Batman Origins will continue the series following on from Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City which were developed by Rocksteady Studios in August/September 2009 and October/November 2011 respectively. Batman Arkham city was also released on the WII U in November 2012. Origins will be braking the tradition slightly from the previous two games as this game will be a prequel. The game will take place before the rise and appearance of Gotham Citys more colourful and deadliest criminals. According to the official announcement which states the following. Batman origins "Showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. as the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships".

There is also another break from tradition with origins. Batman Origins is the first game in the Arkham series that is not being developed by Rocksteady Studios instead the game is being developed by Warner Brothers games Montreal. The development of the game is being led by Creative director Eric Holmes. Holmes has been involved or been the lead on games such as Earthworm Jim 3D, Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction, Prototype and Gears of War 3 so he is no stranger to big titles.

According to website Game Informer, Warner Brothers Montreal have been Giving "full access to Rocksteady's custom modified Unreal engine to capture the look and feel of the Arkhamverse". So the game should look and feel very similar as the two previous hits. WB also announced that the series will be making it's first appearance on hand held consoles with a companion game called Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate set for release on the 3DS and the Vita on October the 25th. The Main Origins game is pegged for release on October the 25th 2013 on XBOX 360, PS3, WII U and the pc so get ready to don your masks and capes and prepare to fight evil once again in the name of truth, justice, trophies and achievements.

Ducktales Remastered

The NES and SNES classic Ducktales is set to be remade and remastered in HD which includes graphics and soundtrack. Additionally the original voice cast will be returning to reprise their roles something which they haven't done since 1990. Game producer Rey Jimenez recently did an interview with 'The Escapist; and he had this to say "The remastered version will be significantly easier and more accessible, that was in order to appeal to the modern gamer. However if you want the pure experience we are reproducing that with the harder difficulties.”

The new game is set to be released this summer for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.

Killer is Dead announced

Grasshopper Manufacture are back and are making a title which made them famous. With Suda 51 again acting as executive director. "Killer is Dead" is set in the near future, and stars an executioner called Mondo Zappa who gets jobs from a cyborg who owns a hitman firm. I know right! Suda had this to say "it’s a personal story of a man who doesn't show himself much in the public world but still worms his way into society and mercilessly eliminates the evil dispersed in it.” Kinda reminds us of "No more Heroes" which if this game is half as good then we will surely be in for a treat. The game is due for a summer release on Xbox 360 and PS3 with Deep Silver acting as publisher. Check out the amazing trailer below:

CryEngine 3 Trailer

Crytek have shown of the new CryEngine 3 at this years GDC. It showcases breathtaking visuals of titles such as Big Read Button, Datex, Enodo, Cabal 2, Sniper 2, Godslayer, Warhorse and many more. Check out the video below for more info.

Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain

After many months of speculation Konami has finally announced that The Phantom Pain is Metal Gear Solid V and is the same game as Ground Zero. Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima appeared on stage at the GDC to announced the truth and that Moby Dick Studio's doesn't exist - yeah like we didn't know that! Hideo later revealed via a tweet that 'Ground Zeroes’ is a prologue of ‘MGSV’. 9 years after that event will be ‘The Phantom Pain’. MGSV is constructed w/ prologue and main game ‘TPP’. The game play demo I presented today is the opening of ‘TPP’ which is tutorial that starts from crawling.'

One surprise however was the fact that David Hayter who has gone on to be Solid Snake/ Big Boss in many titles along the series will not be reprising his role again himself tweeting
that he was not even contacted and asked to be apart of the game. One thing which baffles us is that the game has only so far been announced on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which surely isn't possible with how great the game is looking. Most of Hideo's GDC talk revolved around the new Fox Engine technology that powers the game. He revealed that the aim was to make the visuals as photorealistic as possible, with many of the game’s assets scanned in directly from real life.

Dead Island: Riptide not coming to Wii U

According to an article (sourced from Gamespot) Dead Rising: Riptide will not be appearing on the Wii U which seems to be all i'm writing about this week. Day on day we find out that yet another game that is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 wont be coming to Wii U. According to the Techland representative Dead Island's engine would not need to be re-written in order to run on the Wii U and the decision not to release the game on the Wii U was not down to the game engine. The Techland representative had this to say "Wii U compatibility was coded, created, and tested months ago, back in 2012. There’s no 'rewriting' needed to make it work on Nintendo’s latest console. So the bottom line is that there were no plans to create a Wii U version but that decision had nothing to do with Chrome Engine’s inability to run on that platform".

It seems a real shame that a game that needs item management wont be on the Wii U as it would be really great to see another zombie survival horror game on Nintendo's console as we all know how awesome ZombiU turned out. Guess all the Nintendo Wii U owners can watch the trailer below and dream of what could have been.

SimCity sells 1.2 million since launch

SimCity has sold 1.2 million copies in two weeks despite a rocky launch which makes this the best selling Sim City game in the series. From the sales 54% were downloaded from an online store with Origin sales accounting for 44% of those. EA chief Peter Moore said "SimCity is one of the storied brands in gaming, and Maxis delivered a game re-envisioned and engineered for the online age," now i'm sure alot of people would disagree there as the game suffered lots of server crashes causing it to be unplayable for almost everyone.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution coming to Wii U

An amazon listing (resourced from Joystq) has all but confirmed that Deus Ex: Human Revolution is coming to the Wii U. The product description said that the game features additional content including using the Wii U GamePad with an augmentation called the Neural Hub. Square Enix is stated as publisher of the game but no developer is down as of yet.
